Karioi Lodge

Karioi Lodge is an ideal place to host school and group camps. This facility was built by Huntly Karioi Outdoor Trust to do just this, and we are proud to continue this legacy by working with schools and other groups to host environmental and outdoor education based camps.

Situated on 110 acres of native New Zealand bush at the base of Mt. Karioi, the lodge has the feeling of being away from it all while still being only 8 kilometres to Raglan town. Guests can stretch their legs on the hour long Loop Track, or watch the sunset from Inspiration Point. Inspiration Point is a platform lookout point with stadium style seating for gazing over the Tasman Sea and some of Raglan’s surf points. After dark guests can visit with glow worms that line the driveway.

Accommodation is dorm style in bunkrooms that sleep four people per room. There are three room blocks with five rooms in each for accommodation up to 60 people. Karioi lodge also features five private double rooms, which contain a double bed and bunk bed sleeping 3 people each. Heaters, clean linen, pillows and duvets are supplied in the rooms.

Guests have access to two kitchens. One large kitchen is attached to the main lounge area and features a gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, kettle, freezer, storage and all the tools you would need to make and serve a meal. The second kitchen is smaller and features an electric stove, refrigerator, microwave, and all the necessary kitchen tools. Groups are welcome to self cater, but we also offer healthy catering options with produce, eggs, and honey sourced from our organic garden.

There is plenty of space at the lodge to lounge in the sun on the wrap around decks, or get cozy inside on comfy couches. After a day of surfing, mountain biking or eel farming groups may want to screen a movie (Lost Paradise or Endless Summer are good options) on the flat screen TV. Karioi Lodge also has a pool table in the main hall and space of organized games and lounging in the Sports Barn. If that sounds like too much activity guests can enjoy the on-site Scandinavian Sauna.

To add to the simplicity of staying with us for school and group camps transportation is available in between your activities. We have 3 surf vans that can fit 10 people each.
